2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 73 BY SENATOR LONG AND REPRESENTATI VE COX A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend and congratulate Kevin Troy Faulk on being named to the 2015 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class. WHEREAS, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana, each year collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited number of sports figures who embody the character, skill, and talents worthy of being named to the hall of fame; and WHEREAS, the 2015 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class includes football legend Kevin Troy Faulk; and WHEREAS, Mr. Faulk was born on June 5, 1976, in Lafayette, Louisiana, and began his successful football career at Carencro High School in Carencro, Louisiana, where he helped his team win the 1992 Class 5A State Championship; and WHEREAS, following high school, he attended Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, where he immediately became the starting running back for the school's football team, and in 1996 was voted to the College Football All- America Team by the Associated Press; and WHEREAS, Mr. Faulk finished his career at LSU with four thousand five hundred fifty-seven yards rushing in forty-one games, which was the second best record in Southeastern Conference history behind the legendary Herschel Walker of Georgia; and WHEREAS, in 1999, he was selected by the New England Patriots and quickly earned a reputation as a dependable and speedy running back who could scratch out the tough yards and as a capable receiver; and WHEREAS, during his successful career with the Patriots, he won three Super Bowl rings, rushed for three thousand six hundred and seven yards, caught four hundred thirty-one passes for three thousand seven hundred and one yards, and scored a total of thirty-one touchdowns; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 73 ENROLLED WHEREAS, he was a stand-out kick returner, averaging over twenty-two yards with two touchdowns on one hundred eighty-one kickoff returns; and WHEREAS, On October 9, 2012, Kevin Faulk announced his retirement at a ceremony at the Hall at Patriot Place; and WHEREAS, the successful football career of Kevin Troy Faulk has rightly earned him a place along the many greats in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Kevin Troy Faulk on being named to the 2015 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class.
