2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 82 BY SENATOR MURRAY A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To encourage business owners and residents of Louisiana to take all measures to ensure the safety of their property, including considering the installation of security cameras to enhance safety, deter crime, and otherwise provide for the protection of their property. WHEREAS, security cameras were commonly once limited in use to provide security for banks and by security intensive operations such as casinos and airports, but have now become economical for small business owners and residents to purchase for an additional layer of security at a business or at home; and WHEREAS, according to the United States Bureau of Justice Statistics, approximately seventy-five percent of all crime in the United States is property crime; and WHEREAS, security cameras are known and utilized to reduce incidents such as shoplifting, burglaries, and property vandalism; and WHEREAS, in addition to deterring criminal activity, other beneficial reasons to purchase and install a security camera are to monitor the premises and property, and the ability to observe activity at a business or home remotely; and WHEREAS, because of the benefits of security cameras and other security resources, such as neighborhood watch organizations and monitored alarm systems, business owners and residents are encouraged to consider all possible ways to enhance security at their property. Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 82 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby encourage business owners and residents of Louisiana to take all measures to ensure the safety of their property, including considering the installation of security cameras to increase safety and security, deter crime, enhance productivity of employees, and otherwise provide for the protection of their property.
