2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 87 BY SENATORS JOHNS AND MORRISH AND REPRESENTATIVES DANAHAY, GEYMANN AND KLECKLEY A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of James Leo McGough Sr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the death of James Leo McGough Sr. on January 25, 2014, at the age of ninety-one; and WHEREAS, he was born January 7, 1923, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was raised in Alexandria, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, James Leo McGough Sr. was a 1943 graduate of Bolton High School and served his country as a member of the United States Army - Air Corps from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific Theatre; and WHEREAS, he grew up in Vinton, Louisiana, and moved to the Lake Charles area in 1964, where he and his wife, Mary Faucett McGough, raised their family; and WHEREAS, James Leo McGough Sr. graduated from the LSU School of Banking and worked for Calcasieu Marine National Bank for over forty years where he retired in 1988 as president; and WHEREAS, he was a past president of the Vinton Lions Club, the Pioneer Club, and the West Calcasieu Chamber of Commerce and was a Mason; and WHEREAS, he was also a member of the Young Men's Business Club and the Kiwanis Club, and served as treasurer of the Louisiana Bankers' Association; and WHEREAS, James Leo McGough Sr. was also a past president and member of the Nation Board of Directors of the Texas-Louisiana National Association of Bank Auditors and Comptrollers and a past president of the Southeast Region of the United States for the Business Administration Institute; and WHEREAS, he served on the St. Patrick Hospital's Board of Directors and was serving on the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Service District Board at the time of his death; and WHEREAS, he was a past member of the Krewe de La Famille; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 87 ENROLLED WHEREAS, James Leo McGough Sr. was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer and was a founding member of the Oak Park Cabana Club, and was also a member of First United Methodist Church; and WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Mary Faucett McGough; daughter, Vickie McGough Long; parents, James Doty and Mary Kate Ford McGough; and brother, Alfred Eugene McGough; and WHEREAS, James Leo McGough Sr. is survived by his son, Jim McGough; two daughters, Pam McGough and Cindy O'Rourke and husband Michael; grandchildren, Zane Long and wife Elizabeth, Mallory McGough, James Ian "Jase" McGough, Michael Colin O'Rourke, Mary Katherine O'Rourke, and Margaret Anne O'Rourke; great-grandchildren, Miranda and Conner Long and Breanna Bourque; nephews, Shawn Camara and family, David Self and family, Don Faucett and family, James J. McGough, Eugene "Gene" McGough and Steven McGough; nieces, Diane Hotvedt and family, Judy Camara and family, Jackie McGough and Julie Brendmoen; and special family friends, Betty Emerson and family; and WHEREAS, the death of James Leo McGough Sr. has left a great void and created a genuine sense of sorrow in his family, his friends, and all who had the opportunity to know him, and he leaves behind a rich and unique legacy of hard work and dedication. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of James Leo McGough Sr. of Lake Charles, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his notable accomplishments and singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this extraordinary man will forever bring to his family and friends, city, state, and country.
