SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 106
BY SENATOR WALSWORTH 
A RESOLUTION
To designate May 12, 2015, as "Y Day in Louisiana".
WHEREAS, the commitment of Louisiana Ys is to nurture the potential of kids,
promote healthy living, and foster a sense of social responsibility; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Y's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and
responsibility unite them as a movement and guide their behavior, interactions with each
other, and decisionmaking; and
WHEREAS, more than 100,000 children and adults throughout the state in Louisiana
Ys have access to the essentials necessary to learn, grow, and thrive; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's Ys support the development of integrated, community-based
strategies for serving children and families; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's Ys stand ready to support state government efforts to
provide developmental programs for youth, strengthen families, and mobilize and coordinate
broad efforts to support children and families through partnerships that meet community
needs; and
WHEREAS, on May 12, 2015, representatives of Louisiana's Ys will meet in the
Louisiana State Capitol with their legislators to discuss and exchange ideas on issues facing
youth and families.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana that
May 12, 2015, is hereby designated as "Y Day in Louisiana".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
chairman of the Louisiana Statewide Alliance of YMCAs.
