SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 129

A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Cory Bahr on his numerous contributions and extraordinary
accomplishments, on his inspiration to others, and on his individual promotion of
Louisiana and all the state has to offer.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana and the Senate of the
Legislature of Louisiana recognize and honor Cory Bahr; and
WHEREAS, Cory Bahr was reared by his grandparents who he credits with teaching
him his life skills, how to grow a garden, hunt, fish, cook, can, and preserve foods, teaching
him the essentials to prepare wonderful and delicious southern dishes with flavorful and
local ingredients such as cornmeal, sweet potatoes, rabbits, venison, and duck eggs; and
WHEREAS, Cory has been instrumental in shining a spotlight on Louisiana culture
by winning "Chopped", the television show where chefs compete for prize money; being
crowned Louisiana Seafood King, which is a huge honor among chefs, and is a competition
held in New Orleans each year highlighting the seafood industry; winning the 2014 Diner's
Choice, 2015 Food and Wine's Best New Chef; and has recently been honored with the cover
of Louisiana Travel's official inspiration guide issue; and
WHEREAS, his fame has only spiraled upward since "Chopped" aired, first with the
opening of his restaurants Cotton's and then Nonna's; and
WHEREAS, he is not only a world renowned chef, but also an ambassador for
Louisiana's tourism and a booster for Louisiana's seafood and agricultural industry; and
WHEREAS, his cuisine often highlights Louisiana's unique and rich culture, and
showcases what makes Louisiana a state unlike any other; and
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
and the overall vitality of American society depends, in great measure, upon the dedication
of people like Cory Bahr who use their considerable talents and Louisiana's rich resources
to promote tourism and increase economic growth for future generations.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Cory Bahr on his numerous contributions and his
extraordinary accomplishments, and on his efforts to inspire others through his uniquely
southern cuisine while promoting the diverse heritage and culture that Louisiana and its
citizens have to offer to the rest of the world.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Cory Bahr.
