SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 136
BY SENATOR MURRAY 
A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Ruby Myrtle Dennis Foster upon the occasion of her 100th
birthday.
WHEREAS, Ruby Myrtle Dennis Foster is the only child born May 30, 1915, to
William C. Dennis and Fannie Dorsey Dennis of Alexandria, Louisiana; and 
WHEREAS, as an infant, along with her parents, she relocated to Uptown New
Orleans where she spent her childhood and young adult life; and
WHEREAS, she met the love of her life and married James Harold Foster staying
at his side until his passing in 2008 at the age of ninety-five; and
WHEREAS, two daughters were born to their union, June Rita Foster Sanchez and
the late Gloria Mae Foster White; and
WHEREAS, Ruby Foster considers her biological family and church family to be her
greatest assets and often tells the story of how she and many of her family members and
friends were baptized by Rev. Raphael at Second Baptist Church in Uptown New Orleans
at the largest baptism ceremony in history at that time; and
WHEREAS, in 1959, her family changed their membership to Hartzell United
Methodist Church where she is currently a member and having worked in multiple capacities
at the church, she is most proud of her work as cook for Hartzell United Methodist Church
Day Care Center; and
WHEREAS, at the age of 100, she is still very much full of spunk and wit, and
enjoys watching television and reading her Bible; and
WHEREAS, she has been blessed beyond measure and truly cherishes spending time
with her three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Ruby Myrtle Dennis Foster upon the occasion of her
100th birthday.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Ruby Myrtle Dennis Foster.
