2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 156 BY SENATOR MORRISH A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Wilfred E. Fruge Sr. of Evangeline, Louisiana. WHEREAS, Fruge was born to Joseph and Ida Dietz Fruge on June 26, 1930, and died on Monday, May 11, 2015, at his home in Evangeline; and WHEREAS, at the time of his death, Fruge was eighty-four years old; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fruge was a lifelong resident of Evangeline, Louisiana, and he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fruge was self-employed and he worked in the oil fields his entire adult life, beginning in the post-World War II world when the oil and gas business in Louisiana was becoming a significant segment of Louisiana's economy and a driver of prosperity throughout the state; and WHEREAS, after working in the oil fields for several years, Mr. Fruge founded his own company in the late 1950s known as Evangeline Energy Operating Company and, also, Master Well Works, Incorporated, which has re-invented itself as a renovation and home improvement company; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fruge's deep commitment to the exploration and production of Louisiana's rich resources of oil and gas led him to assist in founding the Louisiana Independent Oil and Gas Association (LIOGA), which is known today as the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association (LOGA); and WHEREAS, LOGA remains active in affecting government regulation of the oil and gas business and urges government to strive to provide the industry with a working environment that will enhance the industry and to educate the public and government on the importance of the oil and gas industry in the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fruge has been active in supporting legislation that would provide a regulatory environment conducive to the exploration and production of oil and gas in Louisiana; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 156 ENROLLED WHEREAS, family was very important to Mr. Fruge and he and his late wife, Elva Hanks Fruge, took great pride in their three daughters, Kathy Fruge Touchet, Carla Fruge Hancock, and Jacqueline Fruge and one son, Wil Fruge, and many grandchildren and great- grandchildren all of whom brought Fruge much joy and happiness; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fruge spent much of his life outdoors, whether working in oil and gas production or enjoying his leisure activities, especially hunting and fishing in the wilds of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Wilfred Fruge was a quintessential Louisiana man, a hard worker, a Navy man who served his country bravely, a man committed to bettering his state through the tapping of the state's rich resources of oil and gas, a family man whose multi- generational family brought him boundless joy, and a sportsman who relished in the bounty of Louisiana's forests and waters. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere condolences upon the death of Wilfred E. Fruge Sr. of Evangeline, Louisiana. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Wilfred Fruge's children through Wil Fruge of Evangeline, Louisiana. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE Page 2 of 2
