2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 163 BY SENATOR NEVERS A RESOLUTION To commend Jeremy Joseph Braud for his many accomplishments in competitive tennis, for his impressive play in Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Division II boys tennis state championships, and on receipt of a full athletic scholarship to play tennis from Troy University in Alabama. WHEREAS, Jeremy Joseph Braud is a left-hander and four-year varsity player from St. Michael the Archangel High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a 14-1 winning record for the 2015 season; and WHEREAS, Mr. Braud was a Region 2 finalist all four years of high school and a state finalist in 2012-2013; and WHEREAS, in 2015, according to TennisRecruiting.net, Jeremy is ranked as the number three recruit in the state of Louisiana, ranked in the low 40's in the Gulf States region, ranked seventieth in the Southern States region, and ranked among the top three hundred high school seniors in the nation; and WHEREAS, as a shy ten year old, Jeremy picked up his first tennis racquet, walked onto the tennis court, and proceeded to hone his skills to become a top-notch tennis player; and WHEREAS, in the years that followed, Jeremy faced many opponents who were larger in stature and older in age; however, he was never intimidated, his confidence never waned, and his focus never wavered; and WHEREAS, his proud parents, Jeannette and Randy Braud, nurtured his passion for the sport and sacrificed their time to attend his endless practice sessions and to travel to all his matches in high school and numerous competitions that included trips to the United States Tennis Association South Region Junior Tennis Tournaments; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 163 ENROLLED WHEREAS, at St. Michael, Jeremy's outstanding abilities have contributed to state championships in Louisiana High School Athletic Association, Division II play for three years and as state runner-up in 2015; and WHEREAS, before graduation, Jeremy received the St. Michael Warrior Tradition Award for tennis, an award issued to a single outstanding individual who displays the best attributes of character, teamwork, determination, good sportsmanship, and a positive attitude on the court; and WHEREAS, locally, Jeremy was twice named to both the All-Metro Baton Rouge tennis team and the All-Metro New Orleans tennis team; and WHEREAS, Jeremy Braud possesses all the finest qualities of athletic ability, physical fitness, determination, and competitive spirit that make a winner on the court, and he sets a fine example for other young aspiring tennis players. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Jeremy Joseph Braud for his many accomplishments in competitive tennis and congratulate him on receipt of an athletics scholarship to Troy University.
