Bill / Enrolled Version

                            2015 Regular Session	ENROLLED
SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 209
BY SENATOR CROWE
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Northshore Technical Community College for achieving a perfect score
of one hundred in a recent study by The Brookings Institute for providing
"value-added" in terms of the earning potential and earning power of its graduates,
ranking it first in the nation in this category.
WHEREAS, the study by The Brookings Institute entitled "Beyond College
Rankings, a value-added approach to assessing two and four year schools" used a variety of
public and private data sources to identify colleges and universities that provide value-added
earnings potential for graduates; and
WHEREAS, the study examined mid-career earnings of the typical graduate,
occupational earnings power of the typical graduate, and the loan repayment rate of the
typical graduate; and
WHEREAS, for each variable, the highest possible score was one hundred, which
indicates that there is a significant and positive difference between what is predicted and
what is actually observed; and
WHEREAS, the study determined that the expected occupational earning power of
the typical Northshore Technical Community College graduate is $62,056, but the actual
occupational earning power is $76,849, giving the college a perfect score of one hundred.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the Northshore Technical Community College for achieving a perfect
score of one hundred in a recent study by The Brookings Institute for providing
"value-added" in terms of the earning potential and earning power of its graduates, ranking
it first in the nation in this category.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Dr. Monty Sullivan, president of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System,
and Dr. William Wainwright, chancellor of Northshore Technical Community College.
PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
