SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 21

A RESOLUTION
To commend the firm of Brown Builders, Inc. of Bossier City, Louisiana, upon receipt of
the dual titles of 2014 Builder of the Year and the 2014 North American Volume
Builder of the Year awarded by Butler Manufacturing.
WHEREAS, since its beginning, Brown Builders, one of the largest general
contractors in the state of Louisiana, has specialized in design-build construction of all
manner of industrial, community, and commercial facilities; throughout the Southeastern
United States, from Virginia to Texas, Brown Builders has erected churches, schools,
hospitals, and governmental buildings of every size and shape; and
WHEREAS, Brown Builders was established in 1971, when Wayne Brown joined
his father, James M. Brown; a homebuilder, and his brother, Doug Brown, to create a
construction dynasty based on the principles of steadfast determination, hard work, and close
attention to detail along with a little bit of luck; together they forged Brown Builders, Inc.
into a highly lucrative enterprise; and
WHEREAS, Brown Builders, Inc. has extensive trade experience, excellent financial
reserves, bonding capacity, superior safety statistics, a proven success rate, and a listing of
highly qualified subcontractors; all factors which contribute to its sterling reputation as a
premier single-source building contractor; and
WHEREAS, the management team of Brown Builders integrates all phases of
construction with such efficiency as to deliver projects on time, within budget, and of
superior quality; this work ethic is the epicenter of the company's prestige; and
WHEREAS, 2014 was a banner year for Brown Builders with sales of more than one
million square feet of Butler Manufacturing pre-engineered buildings, more than any other
company in North America; and

WHEREAS, an immense undertaking was the completion of the Benteler Steel Tube
installation, part of a multi-model transportation and industrial complex, located in the Port
of Caddo-Bossier on the Red River; and
WHEREAS, dual recognition from Butler Manufacturing is quite exceptional in that
the product volume award is usually presented to much larger national firms and to receive
both the highest product volume and builder of the year honors has never been achieved by
a single company within a twelve-month time period; and
WHEREAS, since 2012, the legacy of Brown Builders, Inc. lies in the capable hands
of its president, Kristen Brown, at the helm of this synergetic, family-owned business; and
WHEREAS, as part of Brown Builders third generation, Kristen Brown grew up in
the business and appreciates the complex operations and relationships afforded this service
industry; Brown Builders, a Louisiana company, proudly provides unique building solutions
through its network of construction professionals and offers the best in custom design-build
practices; and
WHEREAS, after forty-five years, Brown Builders, Inc. continues as a trailblazer in
the construction trades; with new applications of technology and efficiency, it sets a high
benchmark for others to follow.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Brown Builders, Inc. upon receipt of dual titles as
2014 Builder of the Year and the 2014 North American Volume Builder of the Year awarded
by Butler Manufacturing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Brown Builders, Inc. is hereby commended for
the positive economic impact it has in the state of Louisiana and its unprecedented success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Kristen Brown, president of Brown Builders, Inc.
