2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 22 BY SENATORS DORSEY-COLOMB AND WHITE A RESOLUTION To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Christine Bannister. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana learned of the death of Christine Bannister on January 25, 2015, at the age of sixty; and WHEREAS, Christine was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, graduated from Istrouma High School, and attended Louisiana State University; and WHEREAS, she served downtown workers for approximately twenty years with home-style cooking at her restaurant, Christina's, on St. Charles Street in Baton Rouge; and WHEREAS, Christine was a familiar face to many through the years cooking catfish, rice and gravy, and a variety of lunches and breakfast items at Christina's; and WHEREAS, she loved to cook for everyone, including her family, friends, and customers; and WHEREAS, her customers were very important to her and she greeted them with a smile and a kind word; and WHEREAS, before pursuing her dream of opening a restaurant, Christine worked in various departments at the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office; and WHEREAS, she is survived by her fiancé, Kyle Beck; her mother, Rosa Bannister; one brother, Mike Bannister; two sisters, Dixie Bannister Roberts and Arminea Bannister; four nephews and one niece; and WHEREAS, with the death of Christine Bannister, Louisiana has lost one of its finest citizens who was admired by all whose lives she touched and is greatly missed; and WHEREAS, Christine's passing has left a tremendous void in the Baton Rouge community, but her love, smile, and personality shall remain eternal in the hearts and minds of her loved ones, friends, customers, and all who had the opportunity to meet and know her. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 22 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Christine Bannister, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful lady brought to her family, friends, community, and state.
