2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 220 BY SENATORS WALSWORTH, KOSTELKA, RISER AND THOMPSON A RESOLUTION To urge and request the secretary of state to submit by January 1, 2016, to the Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee an orderly plan for the complete transition of governing authority of the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum from the Department of State to the Friends of the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum. WHEREAS, Claire Lee Chennault was born on September 6, 1893, to Mr. John Stonewall Jackson and Mrs. Jessie Chennault and was raised in rural Gilbert, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, General Chennault earned his wings from the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1919 and would go on to become the Chief of Pursuit Section at Air Corps Tactical School in the 1930s; and WHEREAS, the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, located in Monroe, Louisiana, is committed to upholding the legacy of General Chennault through education and promotion of military and aviation history. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the secretary of state to submit by January 1, 2016, to the Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee an orderly plan for the complete transition of governing authority of the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum from the Department of State to the Friends of the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
