2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 26 BY SENATOR BROOME A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate the members of Beta Xi chapter of Kappa Beta Delta Business Honor Society for its outstanding efforts to promote academic excellence, leadership, community service, and high ethical standards among its peers. WHEREAS, Kappa Beta Delta was founded in 1997 and later established at Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) in 2011 as the Beta Xi chapter; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the society is to encourage scholarship, recognize achievement, and promote personal growth and professionalism among students who matriculate in business, management, and administration curricula in pursuit of an associate degree; and WHEREAS, derived from the Greek letters, Kratisteuo, Bebaous, Dokimos, its literal translation is excellence, trustworthiness, and esteem; ideals that its membership strives to uphold; and WHEREAS, Kappa Beta Delta impacts student academic motivation and interaction with community leaders and commercial interests; Kappa Beta Delta connects students with issues critical to the regional economy as well as the business climate of the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the local Beta Xi chapter has organized noteworthy service projects that have resulted in neighborhood clean-up campaigns, participation in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul meals program, and volunteered hundreds of service hours to local projects and organizations that include artistic inspiration for youth with The Walls Project and the mentoring of small business entrepreneurs with National Lemonade Day; and WHEREAS, Kappa Beta Delta International provides financial aid through issue of the Andrew V. Stevenson Scholarship Fund in recognition of meritorious academic achievement in business studies; and WHEREAS, Kappa Beta Delta Business Honor Society provides exceptional training for enhanced career opportunities and assures a bright future in the field of business for its members. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 26 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Beta Xi chapter of Kappa Beta Delta Business Honor Society at Baton Rouge Community College for its exemplary academic achievements and service to the community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Pearce Cinman, faculty member of the Department of Business, Social Sciences, and History at Baton Rouge Community College and academic advisor to Kappa Beta Delta Business Honor Society.
