COMMENDATIONS. Commends ExxonMobil and recognizes Monday, April 20, 2015,
as ExxonMobil Day.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend ExxonMobil and recognize Monday, April 20, 2015, as "ExxonMobil Day"
3 at the Louisiana State Capitol.
4 WHEREAS, it is with great pride and gratitude that the Louisiana Senate commends
5 ExxonMobil for the contributions its operations have made to the economy of the state of
6 Louisiana and to the prosperity of its citizens; and
7 WHEREAS, as one of the top employers in the state of Louisiana, ExxonMobil has
8 more than eleven thousand employees, retirees, and contractors in Louisiana; ExxonMobil
9 and XTO Energy have workers in nearly every corner of Louisiana, from the Haynesville
10 Shale to the Chalmette refinery, and from Baton Rouge chemical plants to the deep waters
11 of the Gulf of Mexico; and
12 WHEREAS, ExxonMobil's engineers, scientists, skilled workers, and support staff
13 in Louisiana have played crucial roles in shaping the energy and petrochemical industry for
14 more than a century with revolutionary research innovations and technological
15 breakthroughs; and
16 WHEREAS, ExxonMobil and its thousands of employees and retirees take an active
17 role in the betterment of the surrounding communities throughout the state of Louisiana by
18 providing tens of thousands of volunteer hours annually to numerous nonprofit organizations

1 and local food banks as well as providing financial support to dozens of educational,
2 environmental, cultural, and humanitarian groups through charitable contributions and
3 matching grants; and
4 WHEREAS, ExxonMobil facilities in Louisiana are dedicated to operating in an
5 environmentally-responsible manner, and the operations have been recognized for their
6 efforts as a recipient of numerous awards for their environmental leadership; and
7 WHEREAS, ExxonMobil is committed to continuous improvement in the safety of
8 its employees, contractors, and the community, and its Louisiana operations have been
9 recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for their voluntary
10 protection programs and safety performance; and
11 WHEREAS, ExxonMobil's facilities in Louisiana represent substantial, long-term
12 investments, and their operations retain existing jobs and attract new jobs, provide tax
13 revenue, spur economic growth, and help meet the world's growing energy needs; and
14 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities
15 and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon businesses like
16 ExxonMobil, which is taking on the world's toughest energy challenges.
17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
18 does hereby commend ExxonMobil on more than a century of partnership and progress with
19 Louisiana and does hereby recognize Monday, April 20, 2015, as "ExxonMobil Day" at the
20 Louisiana State Capitol.
21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
22 ExxonMobil's Louisiana operations.
