2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 29 BY SENATOR BROOME A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Leanne Reese Easterling on being crowned Miss Louisiana Junior Pre-Teen Cover Girl at the 2014 Louisiana National American Miss Pageant. WHEREAS, National American Miss was founded in 2003 and is the frontrunner in growing confidence in girls between the ages of four and eighteen in the United States; and WHEREAS, it is considered the largest youth organization for young ladies in the United States and is dedicated to celebrating America's greatness and encouraging its future leaders; and WHEREAS, each year, the National American Miss Pageant awards one million dollars in cash, scholarships, and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide; and WHEREAS, to become a state finalist, a contestant must participate in an interview, maintain academic excellence, and be actively involved in her community; and WHEREAS, the competition consists of formal wear, personal introduction, interview, and community involvement, and each age division may crown a queen and a cover girl; and WHEREAS, in the Junior Pre-Teen division, which encompasses ages seven through eight, Leanne Reese Easterling was crowned Miss Louisiana Junior Pre-Teen Cover Girl at the state pageant in May 2014; and WHEREAS, she was invited to participate in the national competition in Anaheim, California, in November and received the national Cover Girl title for outstanding program participation in her age group; and WHEREAS, since being crowned Miss Louisiana Junior Pre-Teen Cover Girl, Reese has volunteered at the local animal shelter where she provided toys and treats to dogs and cats and assisted in preparing the animals for adoption; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 29 ENROLLED WHEREAS, she visited with Governor Jindal at the governor's mansion, had tea and cookies, and discussed her faith and her desire to assist in finding loving homes for animals in shelters; and WHEREAS, Reese met with Senator Sharon Weston Broome on the set of The Around Town Show, and also met with Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks at his office; and WHEREAS, she appeared at a Livingston Parish City Council meeting and was introduced by Mr. Ricks as a state title holder; and WHEREAS, Reese rode as Louisiana royalty in the Louisiana State University homecoming parade, the Denham Springs Christmas parade, and the Denham Springs Mardi Gras parade with Miss Louisiana Tyron'E Hawkins; and WHEREAS, she visited the women at the Mercy Ministries home in West Monroe and presented them with flowers and gifts for Valentine's Day; and WHEREAS, in her spare time, Reese loves to serve in her church and attends open calls in Baton Rouge and Gretna to share her experiences with newcomers to the pageant circuit; and WHEREAS, Leanne Reese Easterling is a shining star for the state of Louisiana and her accomplishments have prepared her for a very promising future. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Leanne Reese Easterling on her notable achievements and accomplishments, and does hereby extend to her best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of her future endeavors.
