2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 42 BY SENATORS ADLEY, ALARIO, ALLAIN, AMEDEE, APPEL, BROOME, BROWN, BUFFINGTON, CHABERT, CLAITOR, CORTEZ, CROWE, DONAHUE, DORSEY-COLOMB, ERDEY, GALLOT, GUILLORY, HEITMEIER, JOHNS, KOSTELKA, LAFLEUR, LONG, MARTINY, MILLS, MORRELL, MORRISH, MURRAY, NEVERS, PEACOCK, PERRY, PETERSON, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHITE A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the family of Louisiana Army National Guard Specialist Desmond Dershon Desdunes upon his death. WHEREAS, Desmond Dershon Desdunes was a twenty-two year old resident of Prairie View, Louisiana, and a specialist in the Louisiana Army National Guard; and WHEREAS, Specialist Desdunes was a good soldier and fit well with military life, making friends and quickly receiving promotions in rank during his service; and WHEREAS, on Thursday, June 7, 2014, Specialist Desdunes was with a fellow soldier, Private First Class Joshua Miller, both members of the 108 th Calvary stationed at Fort Humbug in Shreveport, and swimming in the Red River when tragedy struck and Specialist Desdunes drowned in the river's dark waters. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend its most sincere and profound condolences to the family of Louisiana Army National Guard Specialist Desmond Dershon Desdunes for their immeasurable loss and his dedicated military service on behalf of his state and country.
