2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63 BY SENATOR PEACOCK A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Adriana Martin on becoming ranked in the United States and World Pi Ranking at the age of seven as a second grader. WHEREAS, Southfield School math specialists started a Pi Day challenge for all kindergarten through eighth-grade students to learn as many digits of Pi as possible; and WHEREAS, Adriana Martin showed incredible talent and success at the early age of five and has exceeded her own goals to become ranked in the United States and World Pi Ranking at the age of seven as a second grader; and WHEREAS, in one hour and fifteen minutes, Adriana wrote the number of Pi from memory without any outside help and without any errors with an accuracy of 1,420 digits on March 13, 2015, more than doubling last year's 603; and WHEREAS, she ranks first in the United States and world for youngest performance by a seven-year old; and WHEREAS, Adriana ranks 25th in the United States for all ages and 69th in the world for all ages; and WHEREAS, Adriana goes over the digits in the morning on the 15-minute drive to school with her father, learning the numbers from January to March this year; and WHEREAS, Adriana says she likes to "see them in my head a little"; and WHEREAS, Adrianna's goal for next year is 3,000 to 5,000 numbers of Pi; and WHEREAS, when she grows up, Adriana says she wants to be a doctor, an Imagineer at Disney, a Barbie maker, or a teacher; and WHEREAS, Adriana also loves swimming, plays violin, and does gymnastics; and WHEREAS, Adriana is a role model for other students and is worthy of emulation and public recognition and is a source of pride for her parents, Robert and Stacy Martin of Shreveport, and family and friends; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 63 ENROLLED WHEREAS, she deserves to be honored and respected for her knowledge and distinction and for being competitive and self-driven. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Adriana Martin on becoming ranked in the United States and World Pi Ranking at the age of seven as a second grader.
