2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 92 BY SENATORS LONG, GALLOT, KOSTELKA AND RISER A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate the Holy Savior Menard Central High School Lady Eagles softball team on a memorable season winning the Class 2A state championship title. WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana have learned that the Holy Savior Menard Central High School Lady Eagles softball team won the 2015 Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Class 2A state championship; and WHEREAS, Holy Savior Menard Central High School Lady Eagles finished a phenomenal regular season as the District 3 champions with a district record of 9-1; and WHEREAS, this team of first-class athletes includes Morgan Woodard, Alexis King, Abby Gwinn, Natalie Seeser, Camille Karam, Kayla Busby, Maddie Smith, Ashley Seeser, Allie Deshotel, Leah Kirkikis, Brittany Jowers, Kaitlyn Funderburk, Madalyn Mahfouz, Kourtney Busby, Jensen Howell, Tara McVay, Zyria Frank, Emily Feazell and managers Maddie Gallagher and "Forty", all of whom contributed to the team's success, and each of whom merits recognition and congratulations for their outstanding play and winning effort; and WHEREAS, their commitment to teamwork propelled them forward, rolling through the quarterfinals and semifinals by ten-run rule victories, and ending their remarkable regular season with an overall season record of 19-6 and a final end of the year record of 24-6 which includes the 1-0 shut out victory over the Winnfield Senior High School Lady Tigers to capture the 2015 Class 2A state championship title; and WHEREAS, standouts in the final game were third baseman, Madison Smith, who scored the lone run on a second-inning throwing error, and sophomore pitcher and the outstanding player honoree Jensen Howell, who pitched a miraculous zero runs earned in all the playoffs and finals and a three-hit, ten-strikeout championship game to cinch the title for the Holy Savior Menard Central Lady Eagles softball team; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 92 ENROLLED WHEREAS, new head coach Allison Frye, and assistant coaches Mark Villar, Brittany Rouse, and Renee Hicks are to be commended for leading the Lady Eagles to their first state championship title since 2001; and WHEREAS, the members of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana wish to recognize each of these extraordinary young women and their coaches on their much deserved championship title earned through teamwork, determination, and dedication to the sport and each other. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the players and coaches of the Holy Savior Menard Central High School Lady Eagles softball team on an impressive and memorable season and on capturing the Class 2A state championship title. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Holy Savior Menard Central High School principal Joel Desselle and head softball coach Allison Frye.
