2016 Second Extraordinary Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 11 BY SENATOR LONG A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Theresa Slater for her hard work, dedication and continuous commitment to the CHRISTUS Cabrini Foundation and Children's Miracle Network upon the occasion of her retirement. WHEREAS, Theresa Slater has effectively and tirelessly served CHRISTUS Health Central Louisiana as the Executive Director of CHRISTUS Cabrini Foundation and Children's Miracle Network (CMN) since July 2, 1990, and as a faithful advocate of the ministry of Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, will retire on June 30; and WHEREAS, prior to joining the Cabrini family, she served as Vice President of Public Relations for Rapides Bank and Trust Company for twenty-three years; and WHEREAS, Theresa Slater has provided strong leadership and direction to CHRISTUS Cabrini Foundation and CMN during her tenure by raising over $10 million for children's services from CMN projects such as the ProAm Golf Tournament, Big Bass Fishing Tournament, CMN Telethon, and Miracle Jeans Day, $3 million for the new Women's & Children's Hospital and the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and approximately $4.5 million from the Annual Cabrini Foundation Winter Ball for various services throughout Cabrini Hospital; and WHEREAS, she has served as the Executive Director of the CHRISTUS Cabrini Foundation and Children's Miracle Network for twenty-six years and during her tenure, she has represented the hospital by participating in many civic and nonprofit special events including The Taste of Mardi Gras, St. Mary's Walk, and as the behind-the-scenes chief organizer of the annual Cabrini Ball and the Children's Miracle Network Telethon, and has raised over $10 million for Children's services at Cabrini and also raised over $3 million for the new Women's and Children's Hospital and the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 11 ENROLLED WHEREAS, she currently or has previously served on many boards including: the Chamber of Commerce (lifetime member and a founding member of the Red Coat Ambassadors), the Shepherd Center, the Catholic Diocese of Alexandria Advisory Board and the Diocese's Centennial Celebration, the Family Counseling Agency, Hope House, the Manna House, YMCA, the YWCA, the Rapides Children's Advocacy Center, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society; and WHEREAS, during a full and productive lifetime, she has demonstrated, in countless ways, her dedication to the welfare of others and has earned the respect and affection of people from all walks of life, cultures and all ages having been described as "willing to put others before herself", "an outspoken advocate for patients" and someone who "has a strong conviction to her mission", a "go to" person in the community who is compassionate, loyal and nurturing, and "makes everyone feel special". THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Theresa Slater upon the occasion of her retirement for her outstanding contribution of time and talent and for her hard work, dedication, and continuous commitment, and best wishes are extended for success in her future endeavors.
