HB 220 Original	2016 Regular Session	Hunter
Abstract: Changes the $12 million dedication of proceeds from slot machines at racetracks from
funding of boll weevil eradication to funding of mosquito abatement.
Present law dedicates monies from slot machine proceeds collected by the state from licensed racing
facilities. $12 million of such proceeds are dedicated to the Louisiana Agricultural Finance
Authority Fund.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law provides that monies dedicated to the fund shall be used exclusively for the Boll Weevil
Eradication program and other agricultural, agronomic, horticultural, silvicultural or aquacultural,
industrial, or economic development programs.
Proposed law changes the required uses of the monies in present law in favor of using it for mosquito
abatement in parishes in which cases of the West Nile virus have been reported.
