HLS 16RS-736 ORIGINAL 2016 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 220 BY REPRESENTATIVE HUNTER FUNDS/FUNDING: Changes the purpose of certain dedications of gaming proceeds deposited into the Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority Fund 1 AN ACT 2To amend and reenact R.S. 27:392(B)(4), relative to special treasury funds; to provide for 3 the uses of certain dedications of monies collected from slot machines at pari-mutuel 4 live racing facilities; and to provide for related matters. 5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 27:392(B)(4) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7 ยง392. Collection and disposition of fees and taxes 8 * * * 9 B. 10 * * * 11 (4) After complying with the provisions of Paragraphs (1) through (3) of this 12 Subsection, the state treasurer shall, each fiscal year, credit a total of twelve million 13 dollars from the combined taxable net slot machine proceeds collected by the state 14 from each licensed eligible facility, as defined herein, to the fund previously 15 established by R.S. 3:277. These proceeds shall be expended, utilizing any or all 16 powers granted to the Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority, including the 17 funding or securing of revenue bonds, exclusively for meeting the needs of the Boll 18 Weevil Eradication program and other agricultural, agronomic, horticultural, 19 silvicultural or aquacultural, industrial, or economic development programs 20 mosquito abatement in parishes in which cases of the West Nile virus have been 21 reported. 22 * * * Page 1 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions. Present law dedicates monies from slot machine proceeds collected by the state from licensed racing facilities. $12 million of such proceeds are dedicated to the Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority Fund. Proposed law retains present law. Present law provides that monies dedicated to the fund shall be used exclusively for the Boll Weevil Eradication program and other agricultural, agronomic, horticultural, silvicultural or aquacultural, industrial, or economic development programs. Proposed law changes the required uses of the monies in present law in favor of using it for mosquito abatement in parishes in which cases of the West Nile virus have been reported.
