HLS 16RS-898 ORIGINAL 2016 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 337 BY REPRESENTATIVES SCHEXNAYDER AND JIM MORRIS MTR VEHICLE/MOTORCYCLES: Restricts the safety helmet requirement to motorcycle riders and operators and riders under the age of twenty-one 1 AN ACT 2To amend and reenact R.S. 32:190(A), relative to safety helmets for certain motor vehicle 3 operators; to limit the requirement for safety helmets to motorcycle operators and 4 riders under the age of twenty-one; and to provide for related matters. 5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 32:190(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7 ยง190. Safety helmets 8 A. No person under the age of twenty-one years old shall operate or ride 9 upon any motorcycle, motor-driven cycle, or motorized bicycle unless the person is 10 equipped with and is wearing on the head a safety helmet of the type and design 11 manufactured for use by operators of such vehicles, which shall be secured properly 12 with a chin strap while the vehicle is in motion.
