Abstract:  Authorizes the secretary of the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to rename the
correctional facility at Cottonport, La., in honor of former state representative Raymond
LaBorde.
Proposed law authorizes the secretary of the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections, notwithstanding
the provisions of present law (R.S. 42:267) or any other provision of law to the contrary, to rename
the correctional facility at Cottonport, La., as the "Raymond LaBorde Correctional Center" in honor
of former state representative Raymond LaBorde.
Present law (R.S. 42:267) provides that no public building, public bridge, public park, public fish
or game preserve, or public wildlife refuge owned by the state or by any political subdivision of the
state or by any institution receiving its support in whole or in part from the state shall be named in
honor of any living person except as authorized or provided by law.
Proposed law retains present law.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
