APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT: Appropriates funds for payment of judgments in the
matter of "Ademon M. Rideaux and Gloria P. Rideaux v. Gilchrist Construction
Company, L.L.C., and the State of Louisiana, through the DOTD" c/w "Brian Brooks
v. Gilchrist Construction Company, L.L.C., and State of Louisiana, through the
DOTD"
1 AN ACT
2To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2016-
3 2017 to be used to pay the consent judgments in the suit entitled "Ademon M.
4 Rideaux and Gloria P. Rideaux v. Gilchrist Construction Company, L.L.C., and State
5 of Louisiana, through the Department of Transportation and Development"
6 consolidated with "Brian Brooks v. Gilchrist Construction Company, L.L.C., and
7 State of Louisiana through the Department of Transportation and Development"; and
8 to provide for related matters.
9Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
10 Section 1. The sum of Six Hundred Thousand and No/100 ($600,000.00) Dollars,
11is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year
122016-2017 to be used to pay the consent judgment in favor of plaintiffs, Ademon M.
13Rideaux and Gloria P. Rideaux, in the suit entitled "Ademon M. Rideaux and Gloria P.
14Rideaux v. Gilchrist Construction Company, L.L.C., and State of Louisiana, through the
15Department of Transportation and Development" consolidated with "Brian Brooks v.
16Gilchrist Construction Company, L.L.C., and State of Louisiana through the Department of
17Transportation and Development", bearing Numbers 2011-2108 and 2011-002109 "H",
18respectively, on the docket of the Fourteenth Judicial District Court, parish of Calcasieu,
19state of Louisiana.

1 Section 2. The sum of Seven Hundred Seventy-Five Thousand and No/100
2($775,000.00) Dollars, is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of
3Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 to be used to pay the consent judgment in favor of
4plaintiff, Brian Brooks, in the suit entitled "Ademon M. Rideaux and Gloria P. Rideaux v.
5Gilchrist Construction Company, L.L.C., and State of Louisiana, through the Department
6of Transportation and Development" consolidated with "Brian Brooks v. Gilchrist
7Construction Company, L.L.C., and State of Louisiana through the Department of
8Transportation and Development", bearing Numbers 2011-2108 and 2011-002109 "H",
9respectively, on the docket of the Fourteenth Judicial District Court, parish of Calcasieu,
10state of Louisiana.
11 Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2016; if vetoed by the governor
12and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,
132016, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.
