Abstract:  Requires that public postsecondary education institutions be reimbursed for certain dual
enrollment programs and remedial courses.
Proposed law provides that public postsecondary education institutions shall be reimbursed for
certain dual enrollment programs and remedial courses, as follows:
(1)A public postsecondary education institution offering coursework creditable toward a career
certificate or an associate or baccalaureate degree to a student attending a La. public high
school pursuant to present law and relative to dual enrollment programs shall be reimbursed
by the state Dept. of Education or the local public school governing authority, as applicable,
in an amount equivalent to the tuition charged by the postsecondary education institution to
students who are residents of La.
(2)A local public school governing authority shall reimburse a postsecondary education
institution that offers a remedial education course to a student who graduated from a high
school under its jurisdiction.  The reimbursement amount shall be equivalent to the tuition
charged for the course to students who are residents of La.
