Abstract:  Provides that the definition of "activated military personnel" includes veterans of the
United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard.
Present law provides for the La. Military Family Assistance Fund.  Money in the fund is used to
provide certain need-based claims of family members of activated military personnel, transportation
and "other" costs of activated personnel and veteran outreach programs.  This money also funds costs
associated with the program's administration.
Present law provides that "activated military personnel" includes a person domiciled in Louisiana
for civilian purposes, names Louisiana as Home of Residence, and is a reserve  member of the
United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard, including the Louisiana
National Guard called to active federal service in excess of 30 days or called to active state service. 
Proposed law provides that "activated military personnel" also includes veterans of the United States
Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard.
