HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 149
BY REPRESENTATIVES WILLMOTT, ADAMS, BILLIOT, CONNICK, GISCLAIR,
HENRY, HILFERTY, LEOPOLD, LOPINTO, LYONS, STOKES, AND TALBOT
AND SENATORS ALARIO, APPEL, CARTER, MARTINY, MORRELL,
PETERSON, AND GARY SMITH
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend the Metairie Kennel Club upon its fortieth anniversary.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend and congratulate the Metairie Kennel Club
upon the occasion of its fortieth anniversary; and
WHEREAS, the Metairie Kennel Club was founded in 1976 by Gayle and Ray
Harney, Earl and Lydia Rose, and Bob and Cheryl Robertson; charter members of the club
also include Manuel Miyares and Jeanne "Bobbie" Stulb; and
WHEREAS, the Metairie Kennel Club was incorporated on November 1, 1976; the
club seeks to further the advancement of all breeds of purebred dogs, to protect and advance
the interests of all breeds of purebred dogs, and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at
dog shows and obedience trials; and
WHEREAS, the club's first match was held at Metairie Playground in 1976, and its
first American Kennel Club (AKC) show was held on October 23, 1981, at Lafreniere Park;
and
WHEREAS, the club supports the local community by holding responsible dog
ownership days, hosting meet the breed opportunities for potential new pet owners,
conducting the AKC portion of the annual Pet Fest held at Lafreniere Park, and helping with
pet food drives; and
WHEREAS, the Metairie Kennel Club merits a special measure of commendation
for the tremendous pride and honor it has brought to its members, the community, and to the
state of Louisiana for the past forty years.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Metairie Kennel Club upon its fortieth anniversary; does hereby recognize and
record for posterity the outstanding achievements and manifold contributions of the club;
and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that the
club brings to the city of Metairie and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Carla Catalano with the Metairie Kennel Club.
