HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 68

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To urge and request the secretary of state to continue to maintain a toll-free number to allow
members of the public to submit comments, concerns, and questions relative to
elections; to immediately send to the appropriate registrar a detailed summary of any
such comment, concern, or question; and to track calls to ensure that they are
addressed appropriately and to urge and request each registrar of voters to
prominently post the toll-free number at his office.
WHEREAS, House Resolution No. 94 of the 2015 Regular Session created a
subcommittee of the Committee on House and Governmental Affairs to examine matters
relating to the compensation, evaluation, appointment, and placement within the structure
of government of registrars of voters, payment of expenses incurred by a registrar of voters
for early voting, and any related issues that the subcommittee deems appropriate; and
WHEREAS, the subcommittee recommended that a toll-free number be established
and prominently posted to be used by the public during elections to communicate with the
secretary of state and the local registrar; and
WHEREAS, the subcommittee determined that each call should be tracked to ensure
that the call is addressed appropriately.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
urge and request the secretary of state to continue to maintain a toll-free number to allow
members of the public to submit comments, concerns, and questions relative to elections;
to immediately send to the appropriate registrar a detailed summary of any such comment,
concern, or question; and to track calls to ensure that they are addressed appropriately and
to urge and request each registrar of voters to prominently post the toll-free number at his
office.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the secretary of state and the Louisiana Registrar of Voters Association.
