ENROLLED 2016 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 103 BY REPRESENTATIVE EMERSON A RESOLUTION To designate Wednesday, April 27, 2016, as Krabbe Disease Awareness Day at the state capitol. WHEREAS, Krabbe Disease is a genetic disorder that affects the central and peripheral nervous systems; and WHEREAS, those affected by Krabbe Disease typically appear healthy until onset or when an individual experiences symptoms of the disease; the onset of the disease can vary from the first few weeks or months of life into adulthood; and WHEREAS, those who suffer from Krabbe Disease have a deficiency of an important enzyme called Galactosylceramidase; and WHEREAS, Hunter's Hope is an organization that raises awareness for the disease and provides hope to suffering children and their families; and WHEREAS, Anniston Bazar, a two-year-old girl from Louisiana, is bravely battling Krabbe Disease; her parents are Corey and Reesa Bazar, and they established Always Anniston to spread awareness for the disease; and WHEREAS, Anniston and her parents deserve honor and recognition for the dedication that they have shown towards a future free of Krabbe Disease. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Wednesday, April 27, 2016, as Krabbe Disease Awareness Day at the state capitol and does hereby encourage all Louisianans to learn more about Krabbe Disease and what can be done to support individuals with Krabbe Disease and their families.
