HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 127
BY REPRESENTATIVE BAGLEY
A RESOLUTION
To commend the North DeSoto High School Lady Griffins softball team upon winning the
2016 Class 4A state championship.
WHEREAS, for the second consecutive year, the North DeSoto Lady Griffins
captured the title of state champions in Class 4A softball, and they did so in commanding
fashion with a 3-0 shutout over Cabrini High School on Saturday, April 30, 2016; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of head coach Lori McFerren, the Lady Griffins
completed a season of twenty-five wins against just six losses, entered the Louisiana High
School Athletic Association (LHSAA) tournament ranked No. 1, and outscored their
opponents 37-2; and
WHEREAS, pitcher Emma Callie Delafield and her teammates allowed only two
runs to their opponents through five playoff games; and
WHEREAS, the level of dominance displayed by the North DeSoto Lady Griffins
in this year's Class 4A LHSAA championship finals is the result of years of hard work by
the student athletes, solid coaching, commitment from parents, and the backing of the school
and community; and
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest levels of excellence
throughout the season, and each Lady Griffin deserves recognition for her vital contributions
to the winning effort; and
WHEREAS, team members Taylor Christian, Rhyann Cisco, Emma Callie Delafield,
Stephanie Easter, Haily Ebey, Britlyn Garrett, Amber Giddens, Emily Henderson, Laken
Martin, Bailey McMillian, Lea Posey, Bayli Simon, Sami Walters, and Sydney Webster
were guided by head coach Lori McFerren and her assistants, Jerrie Choate, Jaymee Echols,

Julie Henderson, and Robert John Middleton; with the year-long support of statistician
Lauren Davlin, the hard work and dedication of the team led to this year's championship; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the well-deserved title the Lady Griffins
have earned; to commend the team for the ability they have displayed, particularly at the
most difficult level of competition; and to express sincere and heartfelt congratulations to
the team members and coaching staff for the merits earned and the sportsmanship shown
while achieving the highest state girls' softball honor possible for North DeSoto High
School.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the athletes and coaching
staff of the North DeSoto High School girls' softball team for winning the 2016 Class 4A
state championship, capping off a truly spectacular season; and does hereby recognize the
team's outstanding performance and the pride and honor they have brought to the school and
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to head coach Lori McFerren.
