HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 128

A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate the Shiloh Community of Bienville Parish for its triannual
gathering of community and kin.
WHEREAS, the Shiloh Community of Bienville Parish meets three times each year;
and
WHEREAS, in April 2016, thirty-one senior citizens were honored along with area
residents who have served in the military, are retired teachers, bus drivers, and youth
directors; these individuals have been stalwarts in Bienville Parish; and
WHEREAS, gathering founder Gwaylon Gilbert and committee members Ebony
Sims-Evans, Latoya Davis, Linda Calloway-May, Shirley Jackson, Tonya Calloway,
Yolanda Gilbert-Tindall, and Floyd Gilbert have dedicated time, effort, heart, and soul to
bring together this unique society of friends and kin; and
WHEREAS, members of the community have traveled to Bienville Parish to take
part in this triannual homecoming event from as far away as California and Michigan, and
from as near as Louisiana's sister states of Oklahoma and Texas; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the Shiloh Community of Bienville Parish
and to celebrate the familial and neighborly ties that bind the hearts of those who come
together thrice yearly to keep in touch under the fitting theme, "Shiloh: It's more than a
community ... it's family, friends, and fellowship!"
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Shiloh Community of Bienville Parish
for its wonderful tradition of gathering and does hereby express best hopes and wishes for
the gatherings to reap bountiful harvests of friendship that will last for centuries to come.
