ENROLLED 2016 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 143 BY REPRESENTATIVE FALCONER A RESOLUTION To commend Mary "Teeny" Simmons upon her retirement as executive director of the Louisiana State Board of Architectural Examiners. WHEREAS, the Louisiana State Board of Architectural Examiners (LSBAE) exists to safeguard life, health, and property, and to promote the public welfare; the board ensures that the practice of architecture in Louisiana is reserved to those individuals who have the proper qualifications and are registered by the LSBAE; and WHEREAS, in 1975, Mary "Teeny" Simmons began her career with the LSBAE; in just two years, she became the executive director of the LSBAE; and WHEREAS, currently, she is the longest serving executive director of any architect licensing board in the United States; and WHEREAS, in 2007, she received the National Conference of Architectural Registration Boards President's Medal in recognition of her selfless and outstanding service; and WHEREAS, Teeny has touched the lives of thousands of architects throughout the country with her endless energy and innovate ideas; and WHEREAS, although she is retiring, her impact on the architectural profession and the state of Louisiana will continue for many years to come, and she will be sorely missed. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Mary "Teeny" Simmons upon her retirement as executive director of the Louisiana State Board of Architectural Examiners; does hereby express enduring appreciation to her for her career of exemplary public service and her contributions to the practice of architecture; and does hereby extend to her every good wish for success and happiness in all of her future endeavors.
