HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 147

A RESOLUTION
To commend Deputy Kenneth Tramble for his service and involvement in the Ouachita
Parish Sheriff's Office Deputies Making a Change youth mentoring program.
WHEREAS, Deputies Making a Change (DMAC) is a program with the laudable
goal of reducing the incarceration rate among young children in Ouachita Parish; the
deputies of DMAC provide mentoring relationships to youth who are failing in school, at
risk of being incarcerated, or who have problems with authority; and
WHEREAS, DMAC deputies use their knowledge, experience, and a plethora of
physical fitness and life skill tools to enhance the thinking ability of young people and to
promote positive behaviors; each DMAC deputy is tasked with instilling in the youth the
seven core values of the program: discipline, education, accountability, commitment,
motivation, respect for authority, and self reliance; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Kenneth Tramble is a founding member of DMAC and one of
several officers who has taken on the mantle of mentor to Ouachita Parish's at-risk youth;
Deputy Tramble is a U.S. Army veteran who joined the U.S. Army National Guard when his
active duty service in the Army was completed, and in 1998, he was inspired to develop the
DMAC mentoring program; and
WHEREAS, after deployment to Afghanistan in 2004, Deputy Tramble returned to
Ouachita Parish and became involved in his community as a volunteer and a leader; in 2012,
he rejoined the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's office and rekindled the Deputies Making a Change
program, which has become extremely successful under his care; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate to honor the work of Deputy Tramble and DMAC in
improving the quality of life of young people in Ouachita Parish, and to publicly
acknowledge and pay tribute to his use of both time and talent to teach young people how
to achieve beyond their circumstances; Deputy Tramble believes in sharing this vital
message with all under his tutelage: "Don't let where you come from dictate where you're
going in life."
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Deputy Kenneth Tramble for sowing the
seeds of change into the lives of at-risk youth in Ouachita Parish and does hereby express
best hopes for continued success with Deputies Making a Change.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Deputy Kenneth Tramble.
