HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 163
BY REPRESENTATIVE CHAD BROWN
A RESOLUTION
To commend the University Laboratory School boys' golf team upon winning the Division
III state championship.
WHEREAS, the boys' golf team of University Laboratory School has claimed the
Division III state championship for 2016; and
WHEREAS, the championship tournament was held at Farm d'Allie Golf Club in
Carenco on May 5, 2016; and
WHEREAS, University Laboratory School easily took home the title, finishing
thirty-three strokes better than second place finisher St. Charles Catholic High School; and
WHEREAS, University Laboratory School was led by defending individual
champion Trey Winstead, who defended his crown by shooting a two-day total of 140,
which was four strokes ahead of the trio of golfers who finished in second place; and
WHEREAS, the Cubs put two players in the top three and four in the top fifteen; and
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
without the guidance and skills of Head Coach Brian Simpson and all of the other
individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's golf program; and
WHEREAS, the team's latest season upholds the glorious tradition of the Cubs, and
all University Laboratory School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the University Laboratory
School boys' golf team upon winning the Division III state championship and does hereby
extend best wishes to the players, coach, and everyone involved with this fine golf program
as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
