HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 185
BY REPRESENTATIVE SCHEXNAYDER
A RESOLUTION
To designate June 1, 2016, as 4-H Day at the legislature and to commend the state executive
board officers of 4-H.
WHEREAS, LSU AgCenter 4-H program participants gain knowledge and life skills
that enable them to become positive, productive, and compassionate members of their
communities; and
WHEREAS, 4-H has three primary program initiatives: citizenship; healthy living;
and science, engineering, and technology; and
WHEREAS, 4-H youth learn leadership and life skills through a variety of projects
on topics such as outdoor skills, aerospace, animal science, nutrition, forestry, and
community service; and
WHEREAS, "Learn by Doing" is the 4-H slogan which encourages members to
prepare themselves intellectually, emotionally, and physically for opportunities to improve
their lives and the communities in which they live; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana 4-H Youth Development program continues to expand
to meet the needs of youth, with participation exceeding two hundred forty thousand
members across the state; and
WHEREAS, through its extraordinary record of research, education, youth
development, and community service, Louisiana 4-H is an invaluable asset to the LSU
AgCenter and the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, today more than twelve hundred 4-H members and volunteers from all
sixty-four parishes are at the capitol for the fourteenth annual 4-H Day meeting legislators
and learning about the legislative process.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of  Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate June 1, 2016, as 4-H Day at the legislature.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of  Representatives of the Legislature
of Louisiana also recognizes and commends the 2015-2016 state 4-H Executive Board
officers as follows: Kadan Guillory, President; Jill Wiltz, Vice President; Carl Stirling,
Secretary; Jacob Ellis, Historian/Reporter; and Sarah Owens, Parliamentarian.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the state president of the 4-H executive board.
