HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 19
BY REPRESENTATIVE HOWARD
A RESOLUTION
To commend the 2015-2016 Anacoco High School boys' basketball team for winning its
second consecutive Class B state championship.
WHEREAS, the Anacoco High School Indians boys' basketball team completed a
sensational 2015-2016 season when they earned their second straight Class B state title after
defeating Zwolle High School by a final score of 59-46 at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles;
and
WHEREAS, the Indians finished the 2015-2016 season with twenty-nine wins,
eleven losses, and a 7-1 district record; and
WHEREAS, Anacoco held its championship game opponent to just two points in the
second quarter, which broke the Class B record for fewest points allowed in Top 28
tournament history; and
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest levels of excellence
throughout the season, and each athlete deserves recognition for his vital contributions to the
winning effort; and
WHEREAS, senior Will Reese led the Indians with twenty-five points, eight assists,
six rebounds, two steals, one blocked shot, and was named Most Outstanding Player in the
Class B final game; and seniors Drew Hillman, Race Johnson, and Caleb Reese; juniors
Brent Cosio, Trace Goins, and Hunter McCrary; sophomore Julian Cecil; and freshmen
Jordan Martin, Colby Wedgeworth, and Tyler Williams all played a part in the success of
the team this season; and
WHEREAS, the championship feat was achieved in the face of an intense period of
heavy rains and severe flooding in many parts of the state that impacted the homes of some
of the players and others in their Anacoco community, and tremendous focus in spite of
personal challenges was evident in the collective effort of the team on game day; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Tracy Reese has instilled an ethic of winning and has
demonstrated the kind of leadership and motivational skills that his players will need to
succeed both on and off the court; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the well-deserved title the Anacoco
Indians have earned, to commend the team for the ability they have displayed, particularly
at the most difficult level of competition, and to express sincere and heartfelt congratulations
to the team members and the coaching staff for the merits earned and the sportsmanship
shown while achieving such a high honor for Anacoco High School.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of Legislature
of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the members and coaching staff of the
Anacoco High School boys' basketball team for winning its second consecutive Class B state
basketball championship, capping off a truly spectacular season; and does hereby recognize
the team's outstanding performance and the pride and honor that they have brought to their
school and community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Head Coach Tracy Reese.
