COMMENDATIONS: Commends Blake Castille upon his induction into the 2016
Louisiana Folklife Center Hall of Master Folk Artists
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Blake Castille upon his induction into the 2016 Louisiana Folklife Center Hall
3 of Master Folk Artists.
4 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Folklife Center is an agency of Northwestern State
5University of Louisiana and was established in 1976; and
6 WHEREAS, the Folklife Center serves as an archival repository for many folklife
7materials; and
8 WHEREAS, Blake Castille has been inducted into the 2016 Louisiana Folklife
9Center Hall of Master Folk Artists; he is the son of legendary Cajun fiddler Hadley J.
10Castille; and
11 WHEREAS, in addition to playing guitar in his father's band, The Sharecroppers,
12Blake Castille's riffs may be found on dozens of recordings; he has performed with a "who's
13who" of Louisiana Cajun, country, and Zydeco musicians; and
14 WHEREAS, Blake Castille was the 1996 winner of the Cajun French Music
15Association Heritage Award, an award he shared with his father for their song, "The Old
16Sharecropper's House" (La Vieille Maison d'Engager); and
17 WHEREAS, Blake Castille merits a special measure of commendation upon his
18induction into the 2016 Louisiana Folklife Center Hall of Master Folk Artists.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
20Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Blake Castille upon his induction into the

12016 Louisiana Folklife Center Hall of Master Folk Artists and does hereby extend to him
2every good wish for continued success, prosperity, and happiness in the future.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
4to Blake Castille.
