HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 235

A RESOLUTION
To commend Blake Castille upon his induction into the 2016 Louisiana Folklife Center Hall
of Master Folk Artists.
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Folklife Center is an agency of Northwestern State
University of Louisiana and was established in 1976; and
WHEREAS, the Folklife Center serves as an archival repository for many folklife
materials; and
WHEREAS, Blake Castille has been inducted into the 2016 Louisiana Folklife
Center Hall of Master Folk Artists; he is the son of legendary Cajun fiddler Hadley J.
Castille; and
WHEREAS, in addition to playing guitar in his father's band, The Sharecroppers,
Blake Castille's riffs may be found on dozens of recordings; he has performed with a "who's
who" of Louisiana Cajun, country, and Zydeco musicians; and
WHEREAS, Blake Castille was the 1996 winner of the Cajun French Music
Association Heritage Award, an award he shared with his father for their song, "The Old
Sharecropper's House" (La Vieille Maison d'Engager); and
WHEREAS, Blake Castille merits a special measure of commendation upon his
induction into the 2016 Louisiana Folklife Center Hall of Master Folk Artists.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Blake Castille upon his induction into the
2016 Louisiana Folklife Center Hall of Master Folk Artists and does hereby extend to him
every good wish for continued success, prosperity, and happiness in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Blake Castille.
