ENROLLED 2016 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 241 BY REPRESENTATIVE SMITH A RESOLUTION To commend Dr. Susanne Jensen upon receiving the 2016 Distinguished Psychologist Award from the Louisiana Psychological Association. WHEREAS, Dr. Susanne Jensen received her Ph.D. from the University of Bonn in Germany in 1963 and came to the United States for further study and professional development on a Fulbright Fellowship; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jensen chose to make Louisiana her home and to become a citizen of the United States; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jensen served with distinction as the clinical director for Mental Health Services at the Louisiana State University Student Health Center from 1975-1990; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jensen was adjunct associate professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine from 1980-1990; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jensen was the cofounder of and a consultant from 1970-1989 for 'The Phone', which is now known as the Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jensen served on the steering committee for the faculty and staff human development group at Louisiana State University from 1970-1980; was a member of the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists from 1974-1975; was president of the Louisiana Group Psychotherapy Society from 1978-1980; and served as a director of the World Council for Psychotherapy and was the vice president for North America in 2002; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jensen established the Group Psychotherapy Training Program at the Louisiana State University Mental Health Center, where she mentored psychology, social work, and pastoral counseling students throughout the years; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 241 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Dr. Jensen was named Woman of the Year in 2003 by the American Group Psychotherapy Association, Women's Task Force; she received the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Louisiana Group Psychotherapy Society; and the Susanne M. Jensen Scholarship was established in her honor; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jensen has been a loyal member of the Louisiana Psychological Association and the American Psychology Association throughout her career, has presented at national and international conferences throughout the world, and has numerous publications to her credit; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jensen has been in the private practice of clinical psychology since 1990, and it is fitting to commend her many accomplishments upon receiving the 2016 Distinguished Psychologist Award from the Louisiana Psychological Association. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Dr. Susanne Jensen, recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Psychologist Award from the Louisiana Psychological Association and does hereby express best wishes for continued future success.
