ENROLLED 2016 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 39 BY REPRESENTATIVE STEVE CARTER A RESOLUTION To recognize Monday, April 4, 2016, as National Federation of Independent Business/Louisiana Small Business Day at the Louisiana state capitol. WHEREAS, both governmental and private entities alike herald small businesses as the backbone of the American economy; and WHEREAS, founded in 1943 and headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is a small business advocacy association that represents small and independent businesses before government policymakers in all fifty states and provides services to its member organizations; and WHEREAS, 350,000 small and independent business owners enjoy the camaraderie and benefits of the NFIB through use of the federation's many products and services; and WHEREAS, the NFIB counts over 4,000 small business owners as members in the state of Louisiana, members that represent every sector of the economy and employ over 175,000 people; and WHEREAS, the Young Entrepreneur Foundation, the Research Foundation, and the Small Business Legal Center are auxiliaries of the NFIB that serve young men and women in their business startups, conduct polls that provide strategic information to NFIB members, and offer legal services; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 39 ENROLLED WHEREAS, NFIB/Small Business Day at the capitol is Monday, April 4, 2016, and it is appropriate to recognize the contributions of small businesses in Louisiana to the thriving economy of the state. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Monday, April 4, 2016, as National Federation of Independent Business/Louisiana Small Business Day at the Louisiana state capitol and does hereby commend small business owners and operators throughout the state.
