ENROLLED 2016 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 57 BY REPRESENTATIVE SCHEXNAYDER A RESOLUTION To commend the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team for winning its tenth consecutive Division III state title. WHEREAS, despite having only four lifters with past experience competing at the state level, nine of the eleven Lutcher powerlifting ladies placed in their weight classes and the team finished with forty-six points, thirteen points ahead of its nearest rival in the Allstate Sugar Bowl/Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Powerlifting meet at the University of Louisiana-Monroe's Fant-Ewing Coliseum on March 18, 2016; and WHEREAS, Shyanne Naquin lifted a total of 810 pounds in her 132-pound weight class and shares the title of the state's top female lifter in Division III with Lakeisha Wheeler of Port Allen; and WHEREAS, lifters Paige Bivona, Cassie Guidry, Delanie Hamilton, Marcy Lambert, Melanie Louque, Shyanne Naquin, Hannah Poche, April St. Pierre, Quemecca Stafford, Kristen Williamson, and Jaydah Young have exhibited great skill, and Head Coaches Jon and Kelly Magendie and Assistant Coach Michele Poche have imparted a championship mindset and work ethic necessary for the team to attain powerlifting's highest honor in Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the achievements of the athletes who comprise the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team are notable and worthy of recognition, and for the tenth straight year, these young women have brought great pride to their school and community with their winning ways. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 57 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the athletes and coaches of the Lutcher High School girls' powerlifting team upon winning the 2016 Division III state championship and does hereby offer best wishes to the Lutcher Lady Bulldogs for continued success in every endeavor.
