2016 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 261 BY SENATOR LUNEAU 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 56:721 and 722(A), relative to parish game and fish preserves; 3 to authorize two or more parish governing authorities to establish a game and fish 4 preserve when the preserve is located in multiple adjoining parishes; to provide for 5 terms, conditions, requirements, and procedures; and to provide for related matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 56:721 and 722(A) are hereby amended and reenacted to read as 8 follows: 9 §721. Authorization 10 A. Any parish may by formal resolution of its governing authority establish, 11 maintain, and operate game and fish preserves, upon lands or waterbodies wholly 12 located within in the parish. 13 B. Two or more parish governing authorities may by separate formal 14 resolutions establish, maintain, and operate game and fish preserves composed 15 of contiguous lands or waterbodies shared by the parishes. All of the parish 16 governing authorities shall adopt formal resolutions in order for the game and 17 fish preserve to become effective. 18 §722. Game and fish commission; rules and regulations 19 A.(1)(a) The governing authority of a parish may appoint a commission 20 composed of citizens and taxpayers of the parish, whose term shall be concurrent 21 with that of the governing authority appointing, who serve without compensation, 22 to be known as the _____________ game and fish commission. 23 (b) For game and fish commissions established by multiple adjoining 24 parishes under the authority of R.S. 56:721, the governing authority of each 25 parish may appoint members, composed of citizens and taxpayers from that 26 parish, to the commission whose term shall be concurrent with that of the 27 governing authority appointing, who serve without compensation, to be known ACT No. 173 Page 1 of 2 Coding: Words which are struck through are deletions from existing law; words in boldface type and underscored are additions.
