DIGEST SB 261 Original 2016 Regular Session Luneau Present law authorizes any parish by formal resolution of its governing authority to establish, maintain, and operate game and fish preserves in the parish. Proposed law authorizes parish governing authorities to, upon unanimous consent and formal resolutions establish, maintain, and operate game and fish preserves composed of contiguous lands or waterbodies shared by two or more adjoining parishes. Present law authorizes the governing authority of a parish to appoint a commission composed of citizens and taxpayers of the parish, whose term will be concurrent with that of the governing authority appointing, who serve without compensation, to be known as the _____________ game and fish commission. Proposed law authorizes game and fish commissions established by multiple adjoining parishes according to proposed law to consist of members appointed by the governing authority of each parish composed of citizens and taxpayers from those parishes, whose term will be concurrent with that of the governing authority appointing, who serve without compensation, to be known as the _____________ game and fish commission. Further requires that each parish have equal representation on that commission, unless some other composition is unanimously adopted by formal resolution of each parish governing authority.
