SENATE BILL NO. 85

STATE AGENCIES.  Provides certain requirements for supervisors in state government.

1	AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 36:51.1, relative to civil service; to provide duties for supervisors in state
3 agencies; and to provide for related matters.
4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1.  R.S. 36:51.1 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
6 ยง51.1. Supervisory ratios
7	A. Each agency within the executive branch shall examine the
8 supervisor-to-staff ratios within their agencies. A minimum ratio of five
9 employees to one supervisor shall be maintained by each executive branch
10 agency.
11	B. Each executive branch agency shall report annually to the State Civil
12 Service Commission, the division of administration and the Joint Legislative
13 Committee on the Budget as to the current ratio and propriety of such ratio.

Proposed law required each agency within the executive branch to examine the
supervisor-to-staff ratios within their agencies. 
Proposed law requires a minimum ratio of five employees to one supervisor which shall be
