2016 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 43 BY SENATOR CORTEZ A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to study the feasibility of corporate sponsorship of state bridges, other department infrastructure, or equipment. WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana's infrastructure is aging and existing resources limit the Department of Transportation and Development's ability to address increasing needs; and WHEREAS, corporate sponsorship of the state's bridges, other department infrastructure, or equipment may generate sufficient revenue to justify such action and to assist in meeting bridge, other infrastructure, or equipment needs; and WHEREAS, the Louisiana Youth Advisory Council sought to determine whether corporate bridge sponsorship is feasible; and WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation and Development has the knowledge, expertise, and information to identify and consider the factors necessary to make a feasibility determination. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to study the feasibility of corporate sponsorship of state bridges, other department infrastructure, or equipment. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the department shall prepare and submit a final report that contains the results of the study requested by this Resolution to the House and Senate committees on transportation, highways and public works no later than February 1, 2017. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.
