SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 56

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Deputy Lisa Dorris of the St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office on receipt of a
2015 Life Saving Award and for her dedication to the protection of her fellow
citizens.
WHEREAS, Deputy Lisa Dorris is currently assigned to the 200 patrol shift as a
Traffic Officer; and
WHEREAS, on August 15, 2015, Deputy Dorris was completing a funeral escort
when she responded to a request from bystanders regarding an unresponsive woman; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Dorris responded immediately and notified headquarters and
began cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the woman after confirming she was not breathing;
and
WHEREAS, Deputy Dorris' efforts were successful as the woman began to take
shallow breaths while she was performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation waiting for
emergency medical services to arrive at the scene; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Dorris remained with the woman until she was taken by
emergency medical personnel to the hospital; and
WHEREAS, the woman, due in large part to the quick and heroic actions of Deputy
Dorris, made quick progress in her recovery and was physically and verbally responsive to
hospital staff only hours later; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Dorris' swift and heroic actions went above the call of duty and
played a large role in saving the woman's life and demonstrates her steadfast commitment
to her position as a law enforcement officer and to the people of St. John the Baptist Parish.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Deputy Lisa Dorris from the St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office for her receipt
of a 2015 Lifesaving Award and for her dedication to the protection of her fellow citizens.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Deputy Lisa Dorris of the St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office.
