2016 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 61 BY SENATORS PEACOCK AND GATTI A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend the Bossier High School boys' basketball team upon winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association state championship title and to congratulate the Bearkats on an outstanding 2015-2016 season. WHEREAS, the Bossier High School boys' basketball team completed a sensational regular season, then advanced to the playoffs of the 2016 Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Boys' Top 28 championship tournament; and WHEREAS, this gallant effort concluded one of the finest seasons for the Bearkats, as they posted an impressive record of twenty-seven wins and ten losses; and WHEREAS, Bossier High School is ranked first in the Class 4-A District 1 LHSAA standings for boys' basketball among nine schools that included local rivals Airline, Woodlawn, Fair Park, and Huntington high schools; and WHEREAS, on March 12, 2016, Number 4 seed Bossier High School defeated Number 2 seed Washington-Marion Magnet High School from Lake Charles with a score of 42-39, and with the game-winning basket scored by junior forward, Antonio Davis, in the final eleven seconds of play; and WHEREAS, Head Coach Jeremiah Williams, along with assistant coaches, Nick Bohanan, Cedric Washington, and Rian Smith, have instilled in these young athletes the necessary skills to become great basketball players, good sportsmen, and outstanding members of the community; and WHEREAS, the members of this talented Bearkats squad include Larry Robinson, Travis Manning, Tyrese English, Antonio Davis, Donnell Mason, Chris Davenport, Quatavious Capers, Dontaveous Washington, Michael Davis, Ceontrey Jarmon, Abarreion Johnson, Jacoby Decker, Keion Brocks, Isaiah Wallace, and Tybren Wimberly, who merit recognition and congratulations for their extraordinary performance both on and off the court and their competitive spirit throughout this unforgettable season; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 61 ENROLLED WHEREAS, on April 13, 2016, the Bossier City community held a victory parade to pay tribute to the newly crowned state champions of Class 4-A District 1; and WHEREAS, the Bossier High School boys' basketball program has earned these well-deserved accolades that detail their extraordinary athletic abilities, particularly at the most difficult level of competition. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Bossier High School Boys' Basketball program for its title win during the 2016 Allstate Sugar Bowl/Louisiana High School Athletic Association Top 28 Boys' Basketball championship tournament. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its sincere congratulations to the Bearkats team and to the coaching staff for achievement of such high honors for themselves, for Bossier High School, and for the state of Louisiana. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Jeremiah Williams, head coach, and David Thrash, principal, of Bossier High School.
