SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 100

A RESOLUTION
To recognize Thursday, May 5, 2016, as Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors Day
at the Louisiana State Capitol.
WHEREAS, Professional Surveying is celebrating one hundred and fifty-two years
of licensure, first issuing licenses number one, two, and three to J.B. Bice, C.P. Couvillion,
and R.A. Crowson, respectively, in 1908; and
WHEREAS, in April 2011, the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors hosted
their Fiftieth Annual Conference; and
WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are compelled to follow rules of
professional conduct in order to safeguard life and health, to protect property, to promote the
welfare of the public, and to establish and maintain a high standard of integrity in the
performance of their professional duties; and
WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors at all times recognize that their primary
obligation is to protect the safety, health, property, and welfare of the public; and
WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are committed to cooperating with
educational institutions in the maintenance of high standards of education in land surveying;
and
WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are committed to maintaining the
highest levels of professional quality and to keeping abreast of the most advanced
technology in their field, including utilizing global positioning, mapping, and spatial
referencing, as they seek to ensure that they provide state-of-the-art surveying services to
the citizens of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize and commend the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors and
its members across the state for their significant contributions in service to the citizens of
Louisiana since licenses were first issued in 1908.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
recognize Thursday, May 5, 2016, as Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors Day at
the Louisiana State Capitol.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors.
