SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 103
BY SENATOR LAFLEUR 
A RESOLUTION
To acknowledge the common bond and mutual interests between Quebec and Louisiana and
the Louisiana Senate welcomes the Honorable Jacques Chagnon, president of the
Quebec National Assembly, to the state capitol.
WHEREAS, Quebec and Louisiana have a common history and share values and
privileged ties within French language parliamentary organizations; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana has a unique Francophone heritage and a strong commitment
to preserve such heritage within the state; and
WHEREAS, Quebec holds a prominent place in the preservation of the French
language and in the promotion of diversity of French language cultures in North America;
and
WHEREAS, it is important to recognize the mutual interests Quebec and Louisiana
share in topics such as education, health, economic development, and cultural affairs, and
it is important to promote cooperation and discussion among members of respective
assemblies; and
WHEREAS, in 2015, the Quebec National Assembly and the Legislature of
Louisiana signed an agreement emphasizing their historic partnership.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby acknowledge the common bond and mutual interests between Quebec and
Louisiana and the Louisiana Senate does hereby welcome the Honorable Jacques Chagnon,
president of the Quebec National Assembly, to the state capitol.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Honorable Jacques Chagnon.
