SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 120
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
death of Myrtle Henry.
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Senate have learned of the passing of Myrtle Senegal Henry at age ninety-four, on April 28,
2016; and
WHEREAS, she was a native and lifelong resident of Bristol, as well as a retired
food technician with the St. Landry Parish School Board with twenty-five years of service;
and 
WHEREAS, Myrtle Henry was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic
Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Peter Claver #34 of Grand Coteau and
American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #556 of Sunset; and
WHEREAS, she enjoyed gathering with the seniors at the Thensted Center in Grand
Coteau and Seniors Helping Seniors in Sunset and loved her special pet dog, Lindsey; and
WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Francis
Henry; her parents, John Zeno Senegal and the former Leona Taylor, both natives of St.
Landry Parish; two brothers, Wilbert Senegal and Harold Senegal; and one sister, Mabel H.
Carmouche; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Shaw; and one son-in-law, Patrick Boxie; and 
WHEREAS, Myrtle Senegal Henry leaves behind her loving family to cherish her
memory; four sons, George Henry (Renella), Alvin R. Henry (Evelyn), Francis Xavier Henry
(Helen), and Paul Henry (Lolita); four daughters, Juanita H. Miller (Leroy), Sherlean H.
Kerlegan (Roland), Leona H. Boxie, and Debra Ann Constantine (Jeffery); seventeen

grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; two
brothers, John Senegal (Rita) and Joseph Senegal (Emma); and four sisters, Sister Mary
Letitia, Bessie S. Byrd (Russell), Ruby S. Babineaux (Dudley), and Mary S. Casey (Eugene);
two sisters-in-law, Barbara Senegal and Mary Henry; one brother-in-law, Howard Henry
(Irene); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends.  
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere condolences upon the death of Myrtle Henry.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Myrtle Henry.
